Our Story

The telling of our story is dedicated to shedding light on the dark realities of elder abuse, spousal abuse, and the difficulties of navigating "the system" while trying to do everything required to protect your loved one from abuse & manipulation from his spouse, all while trying to battle serious health issues and navigate the medical and legal systems. Through sharing personal experiences, raising awareness, and advocating for change, we aim to support victims and survivors and prevent future tragedies.

Everything we've written on these pages are the experiences and opinions of those of us who have lived them. Many times we've included proof of our experiences, sometimes we don't have proof or it feels too personal to share, but everything written is truth from our perspective. This isn't done with any personal intent toward Jill, but to try to heal from these experiences and the trauma all of this has caused to his children, his family and friends.

Our other goal is to try to bring attention to spousal abuse/elder abuse, and the challenges families face in trying to get justice served. We have what we feel is absolute proof of these offenses, but no one would take action even in cases where it was clearly wrong. This woman continues to work in a position where she is dealing with exactly this kind of victim. Jill works for the Pine County Attorney's Office, and this is exactly where we would go in order to get help for our father and his situation of chronic abuse. We couldn't use any of the County programs to help him because apparently Jill working in that office made it a conflict of interest for them to prosecute her legally. We made multiple abuse reports, but they would contact my father and he couldn't be honest because Jill was always right there with him, making it clear that anything he said would have consequences later.

Jill knows the system very well, and brags that she knows exactly what she has to do to "get around" rules, partly because she has people giving her legal advice on precisely how to do it, partly because "she's friends with all the cops and judges", and knows (as she gets advice from all the attorneys around her) on what to say to get her out of hot water. This is a legal assistant making just north of 50K per year (salary is public, online), imagine if she got into a position with more power? She is an excellent manipulator, and can twist words and be very convincing. Also, she's loud, and makes her every thought heard, repeatedly. Combine this with her chronic alcoholism, and it makes her a very difficult person to be around when she is displeased with something, and she tends to find herself displeased quite often. She has had many, many offenses and disciplines handed out from her employer, Pine County; it's truly amazing they've not fired her already because why would they want someone like this working in this capacity for them? If a person at assistant level can cause this much difficulty and block justice so effortlessly, I fear for that system. I fear even more for the people like us, who desperately need it.

We provide a safe space for victims & survivors, offering empathy and support.
